The ability of people to understand and absorb lessons is certainly different to another. Some are fast learners and some are very slow. Therefore, they often have to tread a different way to understand the same information or subjects.

Some students prefer a teacher to teach them how to write everything on the blackboard. That way they can read and try to understand it. Nevertheless, some other students prefer a teacher to teach them how to disclose orally and they can listen to understand. Meanwhile, there are students who prefer to form small groups to discuss questions concerning these subjects.

Another way that is also often preferred model is a lot of students prefer to learn as if the teachers are lectors. Teachers are expected to tell long-winded theory about the myriad of illustrations, while the students listen to a lecture that describes the content of the form in which only they understand themselves.

In any way you choose, style differences of learning shows the fastest way and best for each individual to absorb information from outside. Therefore, if we can understand the differences in learning style of each person, it might be easier for us to guide someone to get the appropriate learning style and provide maximum results for himself.

Of course, before we can begin to teach people about their learning style, it is better to recognize our own learning style first. This consideration is because we often forget. In other words, we must feel the experience of getting the right learning style for ourselves, before spreading it to others. There are many reasons and benefits that we can get when we are able to understand the variable style of learning, including our own style.

Senior people usually absorb a lot of knowledge about learning style, based on their life experiences. For example, they had to work, undergo military training, educating and guiding children, and so forth. This series of experiences that they’ve been through, indeed, is part of the way they get the lessons. From that point, we can spare to see what actually learning style that is right for us. Whatever style you choose to follow, the most important thing that should not be overlooked is to do what it will be useful for you!

There are several types of learning styles that we can analyze and we may follow if we feel that matches the style. First, the Visual Learning Style (Visual Learners). Learning style as it explains that we must view the evidence first and then be able to believe/understand it.

There are some unique characteristics like the people who like this visual style of learning.

  1. The need to see something (information/lessons) to visually understand or know about it.
  2. They have a strong sensitivity to colors.
  3. They have adequate understanding of artistic problems.
  4. Having difficulties in direct dialogue.
  5. Reactive against sounds.
  6. Having difficulties in following verbal instructions.
  7. Often false in interpreting words or speech.

To overcome the above problems, there are several approaches that could be used, so that learning can still be done with a fantastic result. The first is to use various forms of graphics to convey information or material subject. The graphical tools can be films, slides, pictures, illustrations, graffiti, image cards, and note cards. Those tools can be used.

Auditory Learners – It is the learning style that relies on hearing to be able to understand and remember. Characteristics of study such as this model really put the hearing as a primary tool to absorb the information or knowledge. This means we must listen, and then we can remember and understand the information. These characteristics are:

  1. Information can only be absorbed effectively through hearing.
  2. Having difficulties in absorbing information through direct writing.
  3. Having difficulties in writing and reading.

There are several approaches that can be done to get the maximum results.

The first is to use a tape recorder as a helping tool. This tool is used for recording the lecture during classes and later on you’ll be able to play it back.

Second approach that can be done is to interview or engage in group discussions. Third approach is to try to read the information, and then summarized in the form of oral and recorded for later heard and understood.

The last step is to conduct a verbal review with a friend or teacher.Learning style that is unique also called Tactual Learners or in other words, we have to touch something that gives certain information so that we can remember. These characteristics are:

  1. Placing a hand as the main recipient of information to remember it.
  2. Absorb information by holding without having to read the explanation.
  3. Can’t remain seated for too long while listening to the lessons
  4. Learn better when followed by physical activity.
  5. Having the ability to coordinate a team and the ability to control body movement (athletic ability).

For those who have the characteristics as mentioned above, the approach is based on learning through experience or by using different models or equipment, or working in the laboratory, or to play while learning. Another way that can also be used regularly is to create a pause in the middle of the study. Not infrequently, people who tend to have characters of Tactual Learner will also be easier to absorb and understand information by copying the image or the words.

The use of computers for people who have character of Tactual Learner will be very helpful. Because by using the computer, it can be actively involved in the touch, and absorb the information in the form of images and text. In addition, in order to learn to be effective and meaningful, people with the characters above are advised to test the memory through observing the facts directly in the field.
